Watch A Dog Fight Off A Leopard That Tried To Snatch Her Puppy

Never underestimate the power of a mother’s love.

Security footage from a bungalow in the Himalayas captured the moment when a voracious leopard tried to make a meal out of a puppy, but then met the puppy’s mother.

The surveillance video was recorded by a forest official’s bungalow high up in a Himalayan village. Later, the staff reviewed the tape and were in awe of how viciously the dog fought to protect her baby from the leopard.

In the black and white footage, a little puppy can be seen innocently walking along the bungalow’s porch. Things become more sinister when a leopard appears, sneaking up on the unsuspecting pup and then grabbing it by its neck. Just when you think all hope is lost for the puppy, mama appears as reinforcements.

She charges the leopard, who quickly drops the puppy and runs off.

The video was shot within Nahan, a remote mountain village in Himachal Pradesh, which is located in northern India. The nearby forests have many predators who’ve been known to foray into human territory out of desperation for food.

With regards to the leopard, wildlife officials have pointed out that it appeared to have an injury to its left leg, which may explain why it was searching for easy prey.

In the case of this leopard, wildlife officials noted it appeared to have an injured left leg. Divisional Forest Officer, Mrintunjay Madhav, was the one who heard the commotion outside. After he emerged from his office to investigate, he spotted the mama dog licking her two-month-old puppy – who had minor signs of injury. But it was only after he saw the security tape that he realized the gravity of what had happened.

Afterwards, rescue teams cautioned villagers to take precautions with their small children before they set off in search of the injured big cat.
