If you slept all day at work there is a very, very low chance you’d ever make employee of the month. However, at the manufacturing and hardware company Accuride, an officemate who does just that has made “employee of the quarter” for four straight quarters.
But that’s because the “employee” is actually Meeka the dog. And since her owner works from home, she’s eligible for the award. And since winning it once, she just keeps on going.

Michael Reeg, Meeka’s owner, works as a distribution sales manager for Accuride. He spoke with the Dodo after the pictures his daughter took of the awards began to go viral on Twitter. Reeg said that while Meeka may be a dog, the award is based on merit, and Meeka does well at pulling her weight in the office.
“There are times that I’ll even talk to her as I work through a problem or map out a customer solution. I try out my sales pitches and presentations on her. She’s not easily impressed or swayed. All she hears is ‘blah, blah, blah, Meeka’—but she likes to hear my voice and I love that she pays attention. Having her in my office all day is something that we both look forward to,” Reeg said.

And it would seem that Accuride is perfectly happy with Meeka’s eligibility, plus her winning streak.
One spokesperson for the company stated, “Meeka is an outstanding support to Michael and his work. Dogs are the best.”
Yes, dogs are the best. We need them in more offices across the country – who do we talk to about this?
