Big dogs have big feelings – that is what makes this reunion story so heart-warming.
Brothers Julio and Sam received Duke as an 8-week-old Great Dane puppy way back in 2012. The dog soon became an important member of this Oklahoma City family. The trio of brothers all got along so well, so when Duke went missing from the family house Christmas Eve 2013, Julio and Sam were left devastated.
The two boys and their family searched everywhere for Duke. Despite the fact that they had done the right thing and had Duke microchipped and registered, nothing happened – the days turned to weeks, which turned into months of missing their beloved dog.
Two years went by.
Then one day, David Walker, of Navasota, Texas, was outside working on his ranch. He got a bit of a hop when he noticed an unfamiliar Great Dane sitting on his property. The dog was very friendly, so he decided to take the dog to the vet’s office. There, the vet scanned him for a microchip.
The Great Dane turned out to be Duke!
After a relieving phone call, Julio, Sam, and their family were on their way to go pick up Duke.
