We’ve all had falling out with a friend over something petty. But one woman, in particular, was pretty surprised when she had a friend ask her to change her dog’s name. You see, the reason was that the friend was pregnant, and wanting to name her child Tillie – the same name as the woman’s dog.
The pregnant friend had messaged the woman about changing her dog’s name. Obviously, the woman said no about changing her dog’s name, and that caused the pregnant friend to go ballistic. She didn’t want to take no for an answer as she was determined to have her baby be named Tillie, but didn’t want it sharing its namesake with a dog.
There were even screenshots of the text message exchange between the two women, which was later posted to Twitter.
The pregnant woman started off saying, “We want to name her Tillie but it’s come to my attention you have a dog named Tilly. I’d really appreciate you changing your dog’s name. Obviously, you understand my daughter can’t have the same name as a dog.”
The recipient of the texts, Jennay, replied saying, “Hey mate, I don’t think it’s necessary to change my Tilly’s name. I don’t think you’ll ever see her and I don’t think anyone will notice they’ve got the same name anyway.”
For most people, that would’ve been the end of the conversation, with most people giving up on trying to convince someone to change their dog’s name. Of course, that wasn’t the case with the pregnant mom who continued her campaign.
She replied, “You don’t have children, you’ll never understand how a mother can love and just want the best for this perfect little person. I’m honestly shocked you’re being so heartless and unreasonable. This is going to impact her life and potentially ruin her confidence. Can you even imagine growing up having the same name as a mutt?”
But she didn’t even end it there, she continued further, writing, “You have callously put me in a terrible position. You are a piece of work and don’t deserve your good family. You are ruining a baby’s life.”
We can only speculate what Jennay was thinking at this point. I mean, how many of us pet parents would just be so tempted to engage and pop off at such stupidity? However, Jennay rose above.
She simply ended the conversation as graciously as possible, stating that she wouldn’t change her dog’s name.
Even at that, the pregnant woman wouldn’t give up and then just turned nasty.
She texted back, “No, f*** you. You’re a disgrace. Please reconsider.”
Needless to say, that friendship probably no longer exists. It’s incredible some of the stupidity that comes out of some people regarding baby names.
