Despite having a rough life, 5-year-old French mastiff, Mae, continues to be positive and absolutely adores everyone she meets. Mae first arrived at Southern Indiana Animal Rescue weighing only 70 pounds due to severe malnourished.
Mae, myself and all of us from the rescue want to send a HUGE thank you!!! 5 days ago I put a message out that we were…

Not long after arriving, Mae was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a prognosis of only a few weeks. Elizabeth Starck, who fosters for the rescue, fell in love with Mae instantaneously and took her home in order to give her a proper loving environment.
Given her squishy face and adorable under-bite, this sweet dog has gained tons of followers. In fact, Mae is somewhat of a celebrity and has become a spokes-dog for the rescue – attending lots of fundraisers in order to greet her fans.
Mae was determined to sleep upstairs last night. I don’t know if it’s because she wanted to be with me or if it’s…

The only thing that Mae loves more than people, is food. She easily goes through ten cans of wet dog food a day. When Starck posted that the shelter was running low on canned dog food, she was shocked by the response from the community when 700 cans of dog food and other donations were made in order to help care for Mae.
“The support and love you all have shown Mae and all of us is astounding and brings me to tears. In the last couple of days Mae has slowed down a bit more, but she still loves any and all attention she can get. But most of all, she still loves her food,” said Starck.
When mom says it’s bed time, but you still want to play with the cats.**she sat there and watched them run around for a good 20 min.

This adorable dog also likes the foster cats and checks up on them every evening. She even just likes to sit with them and watch them play.
“Her tail goes insane when she sees them. She woke me up 5 times through the night wanting to check the cats out,” wrote Starck.
Starck officially adopted Mae, doing it in front of a judge. The pair are now forever bonded.
Happy New Years from Mae and her crew! They are just happy I made it home in time for a late night snack ❤️

“We made it official in front of Judge Carmichael today. Mae has been adopted, so she can spend her last days with her family (me being her family),” posted Starck.

She added, “Mae’s rescue mission has become more than I ever thought it would be and it’s because of you all.”
What a wonderful dog – we’re so happy that Mae has somewhere full of love to live out the rest of her time.
