For one Milwaukee family, their Christmas miracle was delivered a county transit system bus.
When Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver Jamie Grabowski was finishing up her bus route at midnight on the 18th of December, she noticed two dogs darting in and out of the street on her drive back to the garage. Curious, the bus driver pulled over.
On the bus’s surveillance footage, Grabowski can be heard saying, “Hey, you two! You need to go home right now. C’mon, c’mon, inside!”
After Grabowski managed to get the two dogs on board, the Pit Bull and the Doberman Pinscher are seen exploring their surroundings while Grabowski contacted transit dispatch.
“I got them on the bus because I thought they were going to get hit,” she told the dispatcher.
She then turned to her two furry passengers and said, “Come here, babies! I know. Come here. I’m going to get you home.”
Grabowski is a self-proclaimed “dog whisperer” who was worried about the dogs freezing to death in the 20-degree Fahrenheit weather. As seen in the video, she played with them while waiting for the police to show up.

“It was meant to be for me to find these dogs,” she told CNN affiliate WITI.
The police officer who arrived took the two dogs to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, where they managed to contact the dogs’ worried family.
Stephanie Gomez, their owner, told WITI that the pair had gotten loose when her mom let them outside to go to the bathroom.
“She turned around for a good five seconds, turned back around, and they were gone,” Gomez explained.
According to the Milwaukee County Transit System, Grabowski had found the pair about two-and-a-half miles from their home.
As Gomez explained, both she and her family were extremely grateful for Grabowski stopping to take care of their dogs when she did.
“I thought we weren’t going to see them again,” Gomez said. “We were all panicking at the moment because basically these are our kids.”
This is why it’s always important to stop and do the right thing.
