Street Camera Captures Woman Wrapping Her Scarf Around A Cold Stray Dog

Sometimes when we think no one is looking, they actually are – especially now since we live in an age of technology with surveillance cameras all around, watching us. And one security camera caught the moment a customer who was leaving a café on a cold and rainy day in Zonguldak, Turkey, decided to do something kind for a stray dog. After exiting, she noticed a stray dog shivering beneath the awning outside – trying to shelter himself from the rain.

Instead of walking away, the woman decided to gift him her scarf.

Watch the footage of the kind gesture below:

Köpek üşümez diyen olursa ağır konuşurum!Zonguldak 'ta mağazadan çıkan bir bayan, üşüyen köpeğimizi görüyor. Ne yapsam diye düşünürken boynundan çıkardığı şalı üzerine örtüyor. Insanlar yavaş yavaş bile olsa artık bilinçleniyorlar. Umutluyuz

While the entire interaction was short-lived, the kindness from it didn’t go unnoticed. After it was posted online, it went viral – capturing hearts and headlines everywhere.

“Humanity is not dead,” one news outlet commented.

At first, the woman remained anonymous – at least until someone watching the clip and recognized it as their friend, Duygu Elma.

Elma never expected to be given so much praise for her small act. But since she was unable to offer the dog anything else at the moment, she felt it was the right thing to do.

Elma told The Dodo, “I couldn’t imagine that my actions would receive this attention. I’m very surprised about it. The weather was so cold. I just couldn’t take it when I saw him shivering.”

While she couldn’t do anything else for the dog, Elma remains optimistic that others have taken care of his well-being. Given that Turkey has a reputation for being a country of animal lovers, hopefully, the stray ended up having someone else adopt him.
