Someone Noticed That Dog Paws Look Like Koalas And You Can’t Unsee It

Toe beans. Every dog has them, and they are just adorable! They even have their own hashtag on Instagram.

But interestingly enough, a few keen observers have taken note that there is a very striking resemblance between doggie toe beans and the face of another adorable creature: the koala bear.

First brought to the internet’s attention by Twitter user @41Strange, the incredible series of paws have now gone viral.

And trust me, once you see it you can’t un-see it. Big pad of the dog paw perfectly resembles the face of a koala – complete with the rounded ears. And the four other pads look like the koala is hugging a tree.

The internet has been losing its mind with plenty of people commenting their opinions and thoughts.

One person wrote, “Dog paws have tiny koalas. Who knew?!”

While another added, “Ours looks like a koala teddy wrapped in fluff!”

And even more, people have added on their own interpretations of what kind of creatures the doggie feet resemble, saying everything from Ewoks, to teddy bears to Baby Simba from “The Lion King.”

And another Twitter user @MJ_Scroggsie reminded everyone that koala paws appear nothing like dog paws as they’re actually quite fearsome looking.

According to the Australian Koala Foundation, “The Koala’s paws are specially adapted for gripping and climbing. Rough pads on the palms and soles help it to grip tree trunks and branches, and both front and hind paws have long sharp claws. Each paw has five digits; on the front paw, two digits are opposed to the other three–rather like a human’s thumb–so they are both able to be moved in opposition to the other three. This allows the Koala to grip more securely. Distinctive parallel Koala scratch marks on tree trunks are due to this particular characteristic. On the hind paw, there is no claw on the biggest digit, which is opposable to the others for gripping. The second and third digits are fused together to form a double-clawed digit which is used for grooming purposes, such as for removing ticks.”

Impressive.

So, what do you guys think of the koala-dog paw conundrum?
