Break out the tissues, this one will make you want to cry.
At the Bullock County Humane Society there is one cage that will absolutely tug at your heartstrings. Speck, a very friendly and loving dog, always insists on saying hi to anyone who passes his cage by sticking his face between the metal bars, then reaching out a paw.
If the scars on his face are anything to go by, Speck had a very rough life on the streets. However, despite what horrors he may have experienced, he’s an extremely sweet dog. However, poor Speck sat for almost a year and a half inside a small Alabama shelter hoping to get noticed by a potential forever family.

Wilder said, “You could put anything else around him — another giant dog, a cat, but he is just so fixated on getting love from people that he doesn’t care about anything else.”
She added, “He just wants you to touch him. If you sit down, he’s laying on you, if you hold his hand, he’ll hold your hand, if you scratch his belly, he’ll roll over.”

Speck’s video ended up reaching the attention of Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue, an organization that ended up playing a role in getting Speck adopted.
Wilder was happy to share on Facebook, “He will be running on a 26-acre farm with Mike, his family and two fur brothers! We are so excited. Not only did Speck get adopted due to this video of his cuteness but he also helped a few other fur babies get rescued and he got us some food donations!”

Now that Speck is getting his happily-ever-after, Wilder remains hopeful that his story will help to inspire people to adopt rather than shop since it can be so rewarding to open up your heart and home to a shelter dog. To help shelter dogs in need, please click here.
