For the past while, California has been burning and the state is facing some very serious and deadly wildfires. The crews of fire fighters have been tirelessly and desperately trying to contain the blazes and get them under control. In the Berry Creek area of California, one fire fighter crew was going through the ruble of a scorched property, when they found a survivor in need of help. The fire victim was a precious little puppy who the Butte County Sheriff’s Office stated has suffered minor burns.
The authorities on Facebook shared a post with photos of their rescue, calling the puppy an “unexpected” but “welcomed discovery” that helped to brighten their day a bit.
In the longer post, they explained, “These last several days have been hard on our entire county and we thought we would share a positive story today. Yesterday, as BCSO deputies and members of BCSO Search and Rescue were searching through properties impacted by the fire, they made an unexpected and welcomed discovery on a large property in Berry Creek, this adorable puppy.”
The firefighters rescued the little pup and took him to the Valley Oaks Veterinary Center in Chico, California, for medical attention – but not before giving him the very fitting name of Trooper.
According to the sheriff’s department, the property’s owner had several dogs, however, prior to the evacuation, not all of them could be located so they had to go without them. But we’d imagine that they’ll probably be delighted to hear about the puppy’s survival.
We can only imagine the pain that some pet owners in California must be feeling if they’ve had to evacuate without their animals. Hopefully the fires will be contained and put out soon. According to CalFire there are currently 28 major fires continuing to burn across the state of California, with thousands of firefighters trying to fight the blazes.
