While a suspect was being pursued following an assault, the K-9 officer took the chase quite seriously – so much so that the pursuit ended with the canine leaping through the suspect’s window.
The California highway patrol got involved following a call about a deadly weapon assault in Fontana.
The chase continued until about 12:50 AM, when it reached the intersection of the 15 freeway and El Cerrito Road. The police had stopped the driver, however, he would not surrender.
The CHP called for back up by local police, and that is when Duke, the K-9 officer, responded to the call.

In a video, the CHP officer at the scene is observed breaking the driver’s window. That is when the five-year-old Duke, a Belgian Malinois, doesn’t hesitate to leap through the glass shatterings in order to apprehend the suspect.
The suspect struggles in his car with the K-9 officer before police open the car door and call off Duke. As soon as the suspect falls to the ground Corona police handcuff him and take him into custody.
According to police, the suspect was rushed to a local hospital for minor injuries. There has been no identity given. In addition, there are no details provided as to the alleged assault. And there were no other reported injuries or details.
