The Peruvian Inca Orchid, aka “Peruvian Hairless Dog” were known to be kept as pets during the Inca Empire. The breed has a tendency to sleep in tight spaces. Peruvian folklore says that letting the dog “hug” you is believed to help alleviate stomach pain and conditions such as asthma. Due to their lack of hair, they are especially prone to sunburn and should also wear a sweater in winter months. They are sighthounds with a tendency to take off after small animals.
