When Sgt. Jacob Fisher was doing his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, he encountered his future best friend, Jax. One day, when conducting a tower check on his military base, Sgt. Fisher was alerted to something caught in one of the wild animal traps. When he went to investigate, that is when he came face to face with Jax. The Sgt. immediately took the little puppy in and sheltered him from the cold. It only took a week before he’d fallen in love with Jax and knew that the puppy had found a home with him. Throughout his employement, Jax provided Fisher with lots of love and support, keeping him sane through the tough times and bad days.
When the seven-month deployment was finished, Fisher knew that he was going to be returning home with Jax, the only question was how. But, thankfully, the pair received assistance from the SPCA International’s program Operation Baghdad Pups. The two of them were finally reunited after two-and-a-half-months apart. Fisher was beyond excited to see Ja when the reunion finally came around. He brought his family along to meet their latest family member, and the reunion was absolutely precious.
