Lonely Widow Finds An Unexpected Friend In The Neighbor’s Dog

The wonderful thing about dogs is that they are loving animals who are friendly and open with everyone. And no one is off-limits as dogs will be more than happy to spread their love to anyone.

Sally Rewehooeern was an immigrant to the US from Holland back in 1953. While she had a full life, she had been living along for 27 years, ever since she was widowed, and her children were all across the country.

Unbeknownst to her, a family that was living close to her in Mount Vernon, Washington had just lost Blizzard, their old Saint Bernard. After the loss, the family got a 15-week-old puppy that was about to change her life.

When the family first got their new puppy, Brody, he ended up running away. However, luckily for him and Sally, the little pup ended up wandering over to her home. The two immediately became friends.

And that friendship continued, as Brody would often go over to visit the widow – following her everywhere in her garden and escorting her to the mailbox and back. The little pup would even occasionally hop into the car with her.

It was a lovely change for Sally, who had originally lived on a farm in Holland. The fact that the little Brody would visit her and be a friend was something that made her feel less lonely. And that is always wonderful to see how much joy dogs can bring to those around them.
