Labrador Uses A Boogie Board To Fetch His Ball From The Pool

In college I had an anthropology teacher ask the class what the difference was that separated us from animals. After a few minutes of silence, he announced that it was tools. Tools are what separate us from animals as we’re able to come up with solutions to problems.

However, this may not always be the case. One video showed a clever dog doing some pretty intelligent problem-solving using tools. Perhaps there isn’t much separating us from animals after all?

Abby is a Labrador who was rescued from a shelter. After facing horrific abuse and neglect, she was given a second chance in life when her owners adopted her. When the first adopted her, she had no other toys except for a bear tennis ball.

After adopting her, she was given a chance to live happily ever after in a home with a pool. The dog has come a long way since her shelter days as an abused pup, but one thing that she still holds close to her heart is a tennis ball.

In the video, Abby goes after the tennis ball in the pool, but she does it quite differently than one would expect. While most dogs would just plunge on ahead, Abby is quite dainty in her approach. This clever girl used a wakeboard to make her way out to the middle of the pool where she picked up the ball, then made her way back.

Clearly there isn’t much difference between this pooch and humans:

What do you think of this pup?
