Gema is a Great Dane mix puppy that may have been born different, but she doesn’t let that slow her down.
The puppy is being taken care of by Stray Rescue of Saint Louis after her original owners called the rescue to assist.
“When her original family reached out to us for help, of course, we immediately brought Gema into the Stray Rescue family. They did what was in the best interest of this little puppy, and we commend them for that. She will get everything she needs to have the brightest future possible,” said Cassady Caldwell, executive director of the rescue in a statement.
Stray Rescue of Saint Louis is now trying to figure out the best way to help Gema live a happy and healthy life.
Having a fifth paw isn’t the only thing that makes Gema special, she is also three times smaller than her other siblings.
Because of her deformity, Gema often uses her back legs to stand up – like a kangaroo.
After getting a proper medical examination, Stray Rescue of Saint Louis will decide what is best for the dog in the future – whether that is surgery or not.
