Great Dane Gets Extremely Jealous When Mom Holds Their New Puppy

Jealousy can affect anyone. Even our pets are sometimes subject to the green-eyed monster. They can get jealous over many of the same things that would make humans jealous – their best friend spending time with someone else.

One Great Dane, Bagira, was quite jealous of the family’s new puppy. He hated the fact that the little pup was getting more attention from their owner than he was. Bagira isn’t alone. All dogs tend to get a little jealous if their human best friend shows more attention to someone else than to them.

In the video, Bagira is visibly upset when the owner, Lindsey Heinz, picks up the puppy. He instantly starts to growl as though tying to warn the puppy that Lindsey is his best friend. Lindsey picks up on this and reassures Bagira that everything is ok. She can be heard telling the big dog, “I can pet him too…It’s not all about you.” Anyone with a jealous dog has probably said that line at least once.

But Bagira was not about to relent. He was making it very clear that he was not happy, and he did not want to be replaced. Bagira decides that the best course of action is to get involved. He was not about to take any chances that he’d be forgotten about, so he stood up on his back legs. The monstrous dog towered over Lindsey and placed his paws on her, asking for a pet.

Lindsey couldn’t help but tell Bagira, “You are so dramatic!” And she is not wrong. She continues to comment on the dog’s jealous behavior, but Bagira seems quite pleased with himself – he’s not about to let a small and adorable puppy steal his spotlight.
