Dogs have their moments of complete heroism. They’re some of the most loyal friends and companions that we can ask for. They never stop making sure that we’re okay. When things go wrong around the home, they’re usually the ones that alert us to potential dangers. When I was a kid, someone tried to break into my family’s garage. It was our dog who alerted us to this intrusion. And when one family’s home was about to go up in flames, it was the family dog who was the one who had initially raised the alarm.
In the Vista Ladera neighborhood in Laguna Nigel, California, two separate fires began in two different garages. As this spread to one of the homes, it was the family dog who began to bark in warning of the danger. This gave the family a chance to evacuate. However, the family of four couldn’t find their dog in the confusion and emergency situation. By the time that the Orange County Fire Authority firefighters arrived, the house was completely enflamed. It was a difficult fire to fight. The firefighters spent a good 40 minutes fighting the flames before they were able to put it out.
The firefighters managed to save the day in more ways than one. Besides putting out the fire, these heroes also managed to save the family’s dog, Teddy. The courageous dog who first forewarned his family had been inside the home, hiding from the fire. Fortunately, he was found alive and unharmed.
Residents are fortunate to get out w/o injury after a fast-moving fire in a garage extended into the house. It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire in the 28000 block of Vista Ladera knocked down.
