Best friends – they come in all different species. And in some cases, you get a very adorable example of a marine-based mammal becoming besties with a land-based mammal. Such is the case of the dolphin and the dog, two naturally friendly and curious beings who ended up becoming fast friends.

In Florida, Eileen McGunagle was taking a Captiva Island Fishing Charters boat ride. Aboard was the boat’s owner, Cliff Gilchrist, and his 3-year-old Rottweiler-Husky mix, Lucy. Lucy had been a regular on Cliff’s boat rides ever since she was only 6 months old. Lucy loves the open sea, plus, all of Cliff’s customers enjoy having her aboard with them.

However, what most people are unaware of, is why Lucy is so enthusiastic about joining Cliff every day. Lucy’s main motivation for hitting the high seas is so she can see her best friend Gus. He happens to live in the ocean since he’s a dolphin!

And, it just so happened that the day Eileen was out on the boat, she was privy to witnessing the adorable meet up between friends. Both Gus and Lucy greeted each other with an almost nose boop – a precious moment that was caught on camera by Eileen.
