While most families know the game of Monopoly to be a squabble for properties, there is a new take on the traditional board game where the goal isn’t to rack up on property. Instead, the players compete to amass a fortune of different dog breeds, learning fun facts about the canines in the process.
Dog-opoly is one of many unofficial twists on the Monopoly board game and has similar rules to the classic game. Competitors get to choose from one of several dog-themed playing pieces – such as a dog bowl, a mailman, and a fire hydrant. They also get to purchase dogs by landing on their spaces. The value of the dog correlates to the breed’s size. And it also has an educational side since each dog breed comes with specific facts about the breed.

Players collect $200 by passing “Go Fetch” or lose that money if they catch fleas. The traditional jail has been replaced by the doggie’s version of jail which is the kennel. And instead of houses and hotels, players develop their properties with doghouses and big bones.
Dog-opoly is available to buy on Amazon for only $19. And don’t worry, if you’re not much of a dog enthusiast and are more of a cat person, there’s an unofficial Monopoly spin-off for you as well.
