When Andy Szasz became sick with pneumonia, he was taken to the hospital. However, things became very precarious the next day when he stopped breathing and had to be placed in an induced coma.
The doctors in the Southampton General Hospital in England figured that he’d be in the coma for at least a week. However, they were all shocked when he woke up after only 4 days. The reason for Andy waking early? His beloved dog, Teddy.
Teddy is a 4-year-old rescued dog who is a schnauzer-poodle mix. Andy’s wife, Estelle, had decided to bring in Teddy as a way of helping Andy get through his illness. And Teddy certainly proved he’s a little miracle worker. For his assistance, the U.K.’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recognized Teddy’s efforts. As it turns out, the RSPCA was the same place where Teddy had been adopted.
Andy revealed, “Ted is such a remarkable little dog in many ways. He’s clever, loving, loyal, funny and a right little character.”
What a remarkable story of the power of love between a dog and its owner!
