Dogs make excellent playmates. Growing up as an only child, my dog was a great substitute for a playmate. But most dogs can only really play games like fetch.
However, this dog is quite the talented little game master. A precious cockapoo named Percy went viral on the internet by showing off her game skills – she beat her owner at a game of Connect 4.
Percy’s owner, Sarah Shapiro-Ward who works as an instructor with Toronto’s When Hounds Fly Positive Dog Training, is heard in the video telling Percy, “Go choose your piece.”
Then, the adorable little dog picks up a yellow game piece, dropping it in the center of the grid.
Sarah then compliments, “Nice opening move, Perce!”
Even though she had to continuously inform Percy when it was his turn, the happy little dog proved that he could keep up, even going as far as to block Sarah’s moves and make his own countermoves.

However, Percy did, at one point, take off a little more than he could chew in the game. He picked up three yellow discs but he couldn’t drop them in. He missed them all except one.
And as his owner jokingly pointed out, “Oh! you picked up three. That is definitely cheating.”
While it might be cheating, we can all agree he’s the world’s cutest cheater.
In the end, Percy ended up winning the game after he got four of his yellow bits in a vertical row.
“Oh, good job,” Sarah congratulated. “Nice win!”
Even though he may seem like a game master and a Connect 4 natural, Sarah revealed that Percy actually doesn’t have the memory skills it takes to be a master strategist.
As she revealed to New York Post, “Once the token has gone in, he doesn’t know it’s in there anymore. But he likes to play, so I cheer him on.”
Still, it is clear that little Percy is having fun. You can watch more of Percy playing Connect 4 on his Instagram page, @Prancing_Percy.
