I have always said it, and I will continue to say it: humans really don’t give animals enough credit for their sensitivity.
Animals are more than capable of feeling deep connections to not just people, but other animals. Anyone who has lived with pets knows this to be true. And there is another unlikely animal friendship that proves it.
Rookie is a dog who grew up practically raised by a cow. The two became best friends and were always together. Sadly, Rookie’s owner made the choice to sell the cow since he was already struggling to support two cows.
When the day came for the cow to be taken away, she refused to leave Rookie. And as soon as it clicked with Rookie that his adopted mama was getting hauled off, he began to wail.
Poor Rookie burst out and ran after the cow, briefly reuniting with the cow. Unfortunately, the owner separated them again.
However, the story did come with a happy ending after the owner realized that there it would be cruel to separate the cow and dog, so he kept them together – resulting in a very tearful reunion.
