Who remembers watching The Lion King as a kid? I can’t be the only one who cried when Mufasa was thrown off the cliff by Scar. Even worse was the scene immediately after, when Simba tries to wake his father. Completely gut-wrenching. Years later as an adult I can still feel the tears coming up. But I’m in good company as there was a video that surfaced showing an adorable pooch named Teddy having a visibly emotional reaction to the cinematic death.
Dogs are known for being very empathetic beings. It makes sense that they’d even have sympathy for characters in a movie. It’s part of why they’re such pure beings. In the video, Teddy’s owner asks him, “What happened to Mufasa?” The black doggie looks at the TV and immediately gets sad. Teddy hangs his head down and needs comforting from his owner.
Teddy continues to watch the death scene. At one point the pooch gets up and goes to the TV. He stands on his hind legs and intently searches the screen for some way of helping Simba wake Mufasa. He even lets out a whine of sadness. Our hearts can’t cope. Teddy is just too sweet!
