After suffering the devastating loss of her puppies, one beagle, Molly, was quite distraught and forlorn.
The heartbroken beagle, who lives in Australia, soon found a new sense of purpose when she wandered across a little orphaned baby possum. The two of them immediately hit it off, with the miniature marsupial climbing aboard Molly’s back for a piggyback ride – the rest became history as Molly brought it home to care for it.
Molly’s owners, Elle and Sara Moyle, were surprised but at the same time, knew that it was exactly what both animals needed at the time.
As Sara shared with Australia’s Nine News, “They both needed each other I think so it’s been a fantastic relationship.”
Molly and her adopted baby, Poss, were soon inseparable, with Molly making sure that Poss’s every need was well-looked after. And when her normally nocturnal adopted child takes naps up in the trees, the caring mother would sit down below and patiently wait.
The Moyles were fully prepared to let Molly care for Poss for as long as the little possum needed her, they would eventually let her return to the wild.
