Dad Comes Back To Pick Up His Dog At The Shelter After His Apartment Complex Wouldn’t Pets

When you get a dog or any pet, you’re making a lifelong commitment. And most of us mean that commitment, however, sometimes life has a way of throwing in curveballs that cause us to become separated from our beloved pets.

Lewis Jimenez was one of those who was forced to bring his beloved pet Titus to the Austin Animal Center – the same shelter where he’d previously adopted him from. You see, Lewis was unable to keep Titus in the apartment where he was living on account that the complex didn’t allow pets. Lewis was faced the horrible dilemma: get rid of Titus or be evicted.

At the time Lewis didn’t have anywhere else to stay, nor did he have anyone to look after Titus for him, so he had no choice to return him to the shelter. Upon surrendering him, Lewis said to the staff that he would be back. Understandably, the shelter staff was skeptical, as they’d heard the same thing from many other owners before. While it did take four months, Lewis was true to his word.

Alongside his family, Lewis returned to the Austin Animal Shelter and collected his beloved Titus. The Austin Animal Center managed to have a photographer capture the moment of the reunion, and they shared the joyous moment on Facebook.

Alongside their post they wrote, “These pictures right here make our hearts so happy. Titus has been with us for 4 months. His family was forced to surrender him due to problems with their apartment complex, but they’ve been moving mountains to bring him home ever since.”

The post continued, “Titus has been stressed out at the shelter and generally having a tough time. His family would come to visit him, but we can’t imagine the heartbreak for them or him every time they had to leave without him. They had raised him from puppyhood; they were the only family he’s ever known.”

It concluded with, “Yesterday was the day we’ve all been waiting for. With new housing in place, Titus’ dad came to take him home. And as you can see from the photos, happiness is an understatement for this moment.”

The moment is certainly one that warms our hearts. We are so happy to hear that Lewis managed to find a pet-friendly living arrangement. We wish this pair the absolute best.
