College Student Turns Her Closet Into A Bedroom For Her Senior Dog

All pet parents can agree, nothing more important than our furbabies’ happiness. When dog mom Betsy Redfern from Richland, Mississippi moved away to college, she couldn’t take her baby Cupid with her. Eventually though, the 20-year-old student managed to bring him up to school with her during her sophomore year. And in anticipation of his arrival, Betsy did something special for him: she created his very own room.

Betsy had a spare utility closet in her apartment, which she ingeniously transformed into the perfect little mini room for Cupid to have all to himself. The 12-year-old Chihuahua now has a warm and cozy space of his own where he is safe to sleep and hang out while Betsy away on campus during school hours.

Cupid’s room features a small 4-post bed complete with blankets, a rack for his clothes, a bucket of toys, a cozy rug, plus a nameplate.

“The bed was designed by my mom and she sewed everything herself,” Betsy told The Dodo.

Betsy chose both the color palette and patterns to match her own bedroom. While Cupid’s new room is adorable, it also serves a function of giving the senior dog a comfortable and quiet place to rest. This, in turn, gives Betsy peace of mind.

“Cupid’s room has been so great because I am able to put a baby gate up and keep him in there when I go to class so I know he is safe and cozy,” Betsy remarked to Pop Sugar.

And with Christmas right around the corner, Betsy added a mini Christmas tree in order to give his room a festive feeling.

“I was just decorating my apartment for Christmas, so I figured a tree would be a nice addition,” she said. “I like to spoil him.”

Wow, Cupid is one lucky little dog!
