Everyone is feeling the emotional effects of quarantine – including our pets.
And no picture touted the sadness of isolation quite like the viral photo of a bulldog named Big Poppa. So many people have been commenting on the post, many saying that they would love to comfort the sad-looking pup.
In the now-famous picture, you can see Big Poppa sitting on his sunny patio, hanging his head in sadness while being unable to go down and play in the streets below – all because of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Instagram caption read, “All I want to do is play with the kids in my building but due to COVID-19 … I can’t. I just watch them from the patio. Flatten The Curve please.”
While it was going viral on social media, there were plenty of social media users who could sympathize with the pooch, many offering their comments.
Writing on the post, Twitter’s WeRateDogs account posted, “I will find a cure myself if it means seeing Big Poppa smile again.”
Author Roxane Gay also tweeted, “I am not a dog person but I have thought about Big Poppa all day.”
Even Maisie Williams got in on the post’s interactions, posting, “not being dramatic but I would literally die for big poppa.”
It was Big Poppa’s owner, Rae Elle, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, who posted the picture of Big Poppa. She wrote that she posted the photo in an effort to give those on social media a glimpse into the quarantine struggles of a dog – namely Big Poppa having to deal with a lounge bed that is too small.
🤣🤣 I bought Poppa a new bed during lockdown. It arrived to small but he wouldn't get out of it 🤣 pic.twitter.com/TS3KG1DpOl

As Rae Elle shared on Twitter, alongside the picture of him trying to enjoy his tiny bed, “I bought Poppa a new bed during lockdown. It arrived too small but he wouldn’t get out of it.”
In regards to his new fans, Big Poppa’s Instagram said, he “can’t wait” to be able to socialize with the public following the end of quarantine.
His Instagram caption said, “Hi Instagram. Thanks for the love, I’ve never thought I would have so many new friends. I can’t wait to meet some of you after Quarantine. Xoxo Big Poppa.”
His famous picture wasn’t the only one he posted, shortly afterward, he followed up with another picture that featured Big Poppa on a walk where he stared whimsically through a chain-link fence, where the caption said, “Looking for Children to play with.”
We know what you’re going through Big Poppa, hang in there just a little longer!
