A Two-Legged Dog Named Lieutenant Dan Is A Finalist To Become The Cadbury Bunny

Remember a while back we brought to you the story about registering your dog to be the next Cadbury Bunny? Well, if you never got around to it there is always next year because they are now down to your finalists. And one of these finalists is definitely stealing hearts.

Meet Cadbury Bunny hopeful, Lieutenant Dan, a 2-legged pooch. This canine comes from Ohio, and he was named after the iconic character in “Forrest Gump” portrayed by Gary Sinise.

As his owners revealed to The Cincinnati Enquirer, “he has a joy for life that’s infectious and inspiring.”

This happy-go-lucky dog was born with a birth defect that left him needing his back legs amputated. He was then fitted with a specially designed wheelchair.

This adorable canine is well-known on Instagram and has thousands of followers. He shared with them his Cadbury Bunny caption, which says, “Lieutenant Dan was born different, but hasn’t let that slow him down! He has a joy for life that is infectious and inspiring!”

There is about a week left to vote for your favorite. And Lieutenant Dan is certainly facing some major competition. His competitors include a pig wearing sunglasses, a photogenic looking duck, a Labrador service dog, a llama, a miniature horse, and an unimpressed cat.

The lucky animal winner will receive $5,000 plus be featured in the Cadbury commercial.

Associate brand manager for Cadbury, Ethan Mandel, said to WLWT, “The Cadbury Clucking Bunny commercial has been a perennial Easter favorite for over 30 years. After last year’s newest edition, featuring Henri the bulldog, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve received, we decided to bring back the bunny tryouts.”

Later this month the winner will be announced.
