We all want to think that our dog’s breed is the best breed in the world. While we’re all partial to certain types of dog breeds, there is an official list for 2020 that lets us know the country’s consensus on which dog breeds are the top, most popular ones. Every year, the international network of pet sitters and dog walkers, Rover, releases a list of the most popular dog breeds. They come up with these listed based off information on their database. For this year, the list holds a few surprises in terms of the top five, which are mixed breed, Labrador retriever, Chihuahua, German shepherd, and golden retriever. Although it doesn’t say, we are hoping that “mixed breed” means that these are rescue dogs. It would make sense since the current COVID-19 pandemic has meant that a lot of people have been either fostering or adopting shelter dogs. We only hope that this trend continues after the pandemic has ended.
In terms of the top 10, there are some breeds, like the Labrador, which have been there several years running. However, there are a few newcomers like the Boxer!

Of course, as dog lovers we might be a little biased but we’re going to say that all dog breeds are tied for number one since they’re all just so cute! These different lists do make for interesting reads since some of them do have certain surprises. Personally, as a Southern California girl myself, I was pretty surprised by Long Beach’s top five dogs. What do you think of your city’s top five dogs? Are you surprised or not really? Let us know!
