Dogs are often the heroes of brave and daring rescues – it’s why they’ve earned the title of Man’s Best Friend. But while our canine companions are oftentimes the heroes in our stories that doesn’t mean that they themselves aren’t sometimes ones who need rescuing from time to time. And some video footage from Almaty, Kazakhstan back in 2016 showed that humans are just as compelled as our canine counterparts to come together in order to help save a life. This was seen after a group of people banned together in order to rescue a dog who’d fallen into a water reservoir.
In the video, there is one man seen wading through water in order to get to the stranded dog. Once he had a hold on him, the man and dog were then pulled to safety using the aid of a human chain. The walls of the reservoir were quite steep, so it was clear that these people were really putting in their all to get both the man and the dog back up to safety.
Once pulled back to safety, the dog was clearly very overwhelmed with appreciation. The video was a wonderful example of teamwork as well as the enduring kindness that humanity is capable of. While the dog in the video certainly had a couple of lucky stars looking out for him that day, the sad reality is that not all animals in similar situations are as lucky. That is why we all need to remember to be kind towards all living beings – including our fellow animals. They deserve love and respect too.
