Shelter dogs experience a lot of pain in their lives. And many of them look quite dejected when they come into the shelter, since many were strays living rough on the streets. Unfortunately, for some of these dogs, their outward appearance can be the difference between life and death. The sad reality is that people are superficial at some level, whether they realize it or not. And as a result, the really ratty-looking dogs or dogs with matted and dirty fur often go overlooked. That is why, a little grooming TLC can really make a huge difference in a shelter dog’s life.
Take Charlie for example. This poor dog was living homeless on the streets of Los Angeles, when he was discovered on the side of the road. From there, Charlie was brought into one of LA’s high-kill shelters. Poor Charlie’s fur was thickly matted with tons of burrs which were causing him loads of pain.
Thankfully, when Charlie entered the shelter, he got his second chance. There was a groomer who gave him the much needed makeover that helped to get him adopted.
