Instead Of Living In Cages, Rescue Creates Adorable Tiny Cottages For Pit Bulls Up For Adoption

The Oregon countryside is lush and beautiful, so it’s a small wonder that Luvable Dog Rescue picked more than 55-acres there to build their own rescue. And the rescue that they created for dogs was one, unlike most normal shelters.

Rather than a house, their rescues in cages or kennels, the dogs at Luvable Dog Rescue were given their very own cottages. The rescue’s dogs – who are mainly Pit Bulls – are able to enjoy their own living space as well as acres outside where they can run and play.

And the cottages that were built, were designed to feel like a proper home inside.

They were fitted with furniture, soft lighting, and windows overlooking the outdoors – just all the comforts that one imagines in a human household.

As it turned out, providing the creature comforts inside the dogs’ living environment allowed the staff at the rescue to get to know the dogs’ personalities much better. This proved to be useful information when placing dogs for adoption.

The layout of the living environment was created by Liesl Wilhardt – founder and executive director of Luvable Dog Rescue. Liesl had always loved Pit Bulls and wanted to create a wonderful environment for stray dogs.

It would appear as though she created a little slice of heaven for these shelter dogs since the rescue’s property is complete with a forest, meadows, and plenty of hiking trails – all the kind of stimuli that dogs need in order to rejuvenate their spirits.

The rescue took into consideration the larger dogs and built them dimensionally appropriate digs as well. And there was talk about creating a maternity ward to specifically cater to mother dogs and their puppies.
