Have you ever planned a Bachelor or Bachelorette party only to have it not go according to plan? Well, that is exactly what happened for 8 men in Tennessee, who had their bachelor party plans go awry on the first day when a very skinny dog appeared at their cabin in the woods.
The men were cooking bacon when the dog appeared. Immediately, they befriended her and found her to be extremely endearing and friendly. It didn’t take long for the men to catch on to the fact that she appeared to be both dehydrated and malnourished. On top of that – she looked to have recently had puppies, however, her milk had dried up. While they fed her and gave her water, the dog began to lactate again. That is when they knew she had to be a new mom.
Following the dog, the men noticed that the dog appeared to be very protective of one particular area of the woods. Upon further investigation, they discovered her den where she had her seven puppies.
The men made sure that the mama dog was ok with them and trusted them before they gathered up the puppies.
As one of the men, Craddock, explained to ABC News, “We set each pup individually down in front of her and she nuzzled their faces and she checked out the pups and to the person holding them, she gave the look of, ‘It’s OK, I trust you.’ Every single one had a big fat belly on them. The mom had given the pups literally everything she had.”
The men named the mama dog, Annie. They gave Annie’s puppies names as well: Knox, Bear, Daisy, Gunner, Brimmy, Finn, and Rose. The little furry family of 8 were brought back to the cabin and out of the woods. All dirty and flea-ridden, the men decided to help out.
Craddock shared with Michigan News, “Well, we’re washing our puppies because they had all come out of a hole and they were all dirty, so there was a group of rough men going down to go four-wheeling, but instead they are inside washing puppies.”
The care was on-going the entire time. On their third day of doggie-dad duty, the men chose to spend their beer money on dog food. They also knew they had to come up with a plan of action for the family.
Not wanting to leave Annie and her puppies behind, and since there were 8 dogs and 8 men, the groom plus all his groomsmen decided that each one would adopt a dog. This adorable choice resulted in Annie and her puppies all living within 5 miles of one another – since all the men live close by to one another back in Michigan.
It was the best outcome this little canine family could ask for.
