Cops Save Choking Puppy After Woman Runs Into The Station With Her Lifeless Dog

Protect and serve – that is what the police do. And officers at a police station in North Reading, Massachusetts showed that their care for the community extends to pets as well. They saved a 9-week-old Saint Bernard puppy who was choking.

When the puppy’s distraught owner ran into the police station with her dog, she was desperate for help. The dog had been choking on food – and the officers were presented with a puppy who wasn’t breathing and had become limp and unresponsive.

Springing into action, the police officers and firefighters’ heroic actions were caught on surveillance footage – which the department has since released.
They calmly administered CPR to the dog while the owner was understandably panicked behind them. Once they were able to clear the pup’s throat and get him breathing again, they gave him some oxygen. Once he was ok, the thankful owner was able to take him to the vet.

Later, in a press statement, Police Chief Michael P. Murphy said, “Ultimately, a life was saved thanks to rescuers falling back on their training and remaining calm. Even though we are not faced with this kind of incident every day, the officers reacted just as they would in any emergency situation. We are hopeful that the puppy will make a full recovery.”
