Most dogs don’t like the vet. Whenever we take them to get their annual check-ups, our dogs are less than excited to see their doctors – it’s like people, we’re not happy about seeing our dentists either.
But there is one dog named Smokey, who has nothing but love and gratitude towards one vet in particular. That is because this vet helped to save his life following Smokey being severely burned. Poor Smokey was found chained to a tree during a fire in Jupiter, Florida where firefighters rushed him to the vet in hopes that there was something that could’ve been done.
The Jupiter Pet Emergency and Specialty Center, or JPESC, posted, “Fen [formerly Smokey] was found tied to a tree in March 2017 with third-degree burns so severe that his leg was burned down to the bone. After spending a lot of time with us at JPESC, Constant care, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and tender loving care, he was adopted by Dr. Katelyn Thomas. Earlier this week, Smokey came back to JPESC. As you can see, he is SO thankful for all of the care, love, and treatments that he received during his time with us! Welcome back, Smokey!”
The reunion is such a sweet moment as Smokey – known called Fen – shows his overwhelming happiness at seeing Dr. Latimer again.
JPESC added, “He has an amazing and happy life now, and even gained a doggie brother. We love this sweet, amazing and resilient boy so much!”
In the year since, there have been many positive changes for Fen. In fact, he was the official mascot for the city’s annual animal rescue walk called Peggy Adams Walk For The Animals. And from the looks of it, Fen has the time of his life.
