Celebrities – they’re just like us. Well, maybe not entirely, but there are some out there who chose to adopt pets, rather than purchase them. And this always makes us happy since we know that the best thing you can do is to adopt rather than shop for a pet.
And it’s not just female celebrities who are adopting, it’s also plenty of male celebrities that have shown their softer sides by adopting dogs. And based on the pictures, we can only imagine that they couldn’t be happier with their decisions to save a life and welcome a new best friend into their homes.
Below is a List of 10 Male Celebrities Who Are Famously Happy Dog Dads
LIEV SCHREIBER

JON BERNTHAL
This actor played Shane on the first couple of seasons of “The Walking Dead.” He is pretty well-known for usually playing the tough guy role in movies and TV, however, in real life he’s quite the softie. Especially when it comes to his adorable rescue pit bull.

JAKE GYLLENHAAL
This movie star hasn’t just adopted one dog, but two. And he named them both after “To Kill A Mockingbird” characters, Boo Radley and Atticus. How adorable is that? Doggie Dad goals right there.

RYAN REYNOLDS
As this hot dog-dad explained to ABC News regarding his dog Baxter, “I saw this big, dumb-looking retriever staring up at me. I whispered to him, ‘Hey, let’s get the hell out of here.’ And he jumped up, like he spoke English fluently. He came with me, he jumped in the car, and we’ve been best buddies ever since.”

ZAC EFRON
Zac Efron has been quite vocal on Instagram about dog adoption. As he once posted, “Hey planet 🌎, this is MACA. #adoptdontshop” posted Efron to Instagram. His dog, MACA was actually close to being euthanized before Efron stepped in and began fostering her – ultimately adopting her.

ADAM LEVINE
Adam Levine has three adopted dogs. They’re so cute. And he regularly shares them on social media. He posted on Instagram, “Honestly. We didn’t do ANYTHING. Seriously.”

SIMON COWELL
While he may have been quite hard as a judge, Cowell is actually a big supporter of animal welfare. He even has three rescue pups of his own. And the trio, Squiddly, Diddly and Freddie, often join him alongside campaigns.

IAN SOMERHALDER
He has been known to have multiple rescue dogs. Both he, and his wife, Nikki Reed, share a mutual love for rescuing animals. And together they have a brood of rescue pets, something that they’ll no doubt share with their kids as well. As he said, “Being a dad- it’s the best role I’ve ever gotten to play. The only one I’ve ever been good at…”

GERARD BUTLER
He has an adorable little rescue called Shushka. It is very clear that they are two peas in a pod. He rescued her while he was on location. As Butler explained, “She was a stray while I was filming up a mountain in Bulgaria. Stole my heart.”

GEORGE CLOONEY
This A-list celebrity is also the devoted doggie dad to his three rescue pups. He adopted Millie as a friend for his other two rescue dogs, Louie and Einstein. Clooney rescued Einstein when he was 5-years-old and on a euthanasia schedule – a very lucky dog!
