Owner Writes Heartbreaking Letter Asking Thief To Return Photos Of Their Dog’s Last Day Alive

Our dogs are important members of our family. So when it comes time for our furry friends to pass on, it is absolutely heartbreaking to experience. In a perfect world our pets would live forever, but sadly when they leave us all we have are fond memories and pictures.

So when a thief broke into an anonymous pet owner’s home and stole a memory card that contained pictures of their dog’s final day alive, the owner was left devastated.

In an attempt to get their pictures back, they posted a letter requesting that the thief please return the memory card anonymously.

The note, which was taped to a lamppost in Toronto, Canada, tells the thief that they can keep everything else that was stolen – all they care about is getting the memories of their dog back.

The note reads, “To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took. But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it. I cannot replace those photos. Please throw it onto the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it. Please. She died a few days ago. I cannot lose those photos as well.”

Naturally, the internet was crushed with sadness for the writer of the note, and as a result, the post has been trending as people share it, hoping to appeal to the robber’s better nature.

Among those trying to help spread the word is one Facebook user, Saoirse Morgan, who captioned the image, “Photo taken at Bloor and Lansdowne. This is simply heartbreaking. I hope this person does the right thing.”

Saoirse’s post alone has received more than 27,000 shares, with many people commenting messages of support on it – and the number is only growing.

Losing a pet is one of the hardest things in life, so losing your only pictures of them as well is just the absolute worst thing that could be piled onto an already horrible situation.

Hopefully, the thief will see this all over social media and feel some semblance of guilt and shame and return the memory stick – because I’m pretty sure stealing pictures of someone’s beloved dog counts as lots of negative karma points.
