Why Do Dogs Love To Have Their Ears Rubbed?

Our dogs love a good cuddle. But the one thing that always gets our dogs in a good mood is an ear scratch. They seem to absolutely adore these moments and we see it as they go into a trance of contentment. We’ve all had those nice bonding moments with our pups. They usually play out like this: us sitting on the couch, our dog jumping up to join, and us reaching over and gently patting their heads before we move to the scratch behind the ears. It’s something that our pups immediately melt over and they can’t seem to

Why Does My Dog Destroy My House?

Normally our dogs are perfect angels in our eyes. But every so often they will do things that displease us like digging up our gardens, chewing up our shoes, or destroying our couch cushions. These bad behaviors are not what we want in our dog but before we do something to correct it, we must understand why our dogs sometimes destroy our things. That way, we can understand how to better help them through whatever it is that is afflicting them. Here are some of the common reasons why our dogs destroy household items, and what we can do about

Why Does My Dog Like To Pee On Objects?

We all know that cats are the most likely culprits of indoor tinkling. It’s usually male cats trying to lay claim to their kingdom and ruining our couches in the process. We once had a male indoor cat who took up spraying the sofa, and he was quickly transitioned to an indoor/outdoor cat so he could spend the majority of his days outside taking out his territorial aggressions on the rosebushes rather than my mother’s prized couch. And while cats are notorious for sometimes peeing in the house, our dogs aren’t entirely innocent on that front either. Our pups are

Why Do Dogs Like To Rub Themselves On The Ground?

Dogs love to roll around on their backs. We’ve all seen them throw themselves on the grass or the carpet and going bananas. Normally we assume this is either an itch relief technique or some kind of scent marking thing, but there is actually a number of explanations for their behavior.  The most reasonable explanation for this behavior is that they’re trying to relieve an itch. But if your dog seems to be constantly itchy then it could be a sign that there is something wrong with them medically. Constant itching can be a sign of dry skin, allergies, or

School Surprises Little Girl By Including Her Service Dog In The Yearbook

Dogs are amazing companions. But for some people, these loveable pooches are more than just best friends, they’re service dogs with an important job to do. And one elementary school in Louisville, Kentucky recognized this important role by including their student’s dog in the yearbook. St. Patrick Catholic School decided to give Ariel, a service dog, her very own spot in their yearbook. The adorable gesture meant a lot to the pup’s owner, 7-year-old Hadley Jo Lange. The young girl’s mother credits Ariel with saving her daughter’s life and giving her a chance to live it as normally as possible.

Pug Credited With Helping Two Sisters Realize They Had Breast Cancer

Dogs are often used for medical purposes such as sniffing out cancerous tumors. They are good at it too, mainly because a dog’s nose is incredibly powerful. While these tumor sniffing dogs are professionally trained, sometimes you’ll hear stories from people sharing how their dog at home somehow managed to alert them to a tumor. I remember once watching a TV program where a woman recounted her story of how her dog kept sniffing under her armpit only to find out later at the doctor’s that she had lymphoma. These stories of regular dogs becoming medical heroes can happen, but

There are many benefits to having a furry companion by your side. Not everyone understands the everyday struggles of those who have debilitating illnesses that essentially invisible to the world. It can be quite isolating to suffer from depression or severe anxiety when you seem “fine” to the outside world. That is where emotional support animals can be a very valuable aid to those who are

Why Do Dogs Bury Things In The Ground?

We all know that our dogs love a good bone. The love affair between dogs and their bones has even been immortalized in the English language thanks to the phrase, “like a dog with a bone.” We usually say that when someone can’t seem to let something go. And it’s the perfect simile too because there nothing tougher than trying to get a bone away from a dog. My friend almost lost a finger in the park when her Jack Russell found an abandoned KFC bucket full of chicken bones in the bushes. When she tried to get them away
