Catahoula Leopard Hound

The Catahoula Leopard Dog originates from Louisiana and is also known as the “Catahoula Cur.” It was traditionally used to round up feral pigs and escaped livestock and is believed to have originated from the Nordic Wolfhound. The Catahoula Leopard Dog was originally bred by Native Americans. The breed is known for hunting a variety of animals including raccoons, squirrel, deer, and mountain lions. Catahoula Leopard Dogs are loving with family members but are independent, protective, and territorial, sometimes appearing aloof to strangers.
