Blind Cocker Spaniel Sees Her Owners For The Very First Time After Surgery

Olive was previously a stray who was fighting for survival on the streets of Los Angeles. The poor dog had it rough – she had severe cataracts in both eyes, which left her unable to see. And as someone who grew up in Southern California and knows LA pretty well, I can only imagine how terrifying her life must’ve been with all the traffic and cars around.

Thankfully, Olive’s ordeal came to an end with she was rescued by her owners, Holly Emmerson and her husband Bart. Olive desperately needed cataract surgery, but raising the money for the procedure took a bit of time. But Holly and Bart persevered, eventually being able to raise money for Olive’s surgery with the help of friends and family, as well as the West Coast Cocker Rescue.

When the day finally came, Holly and Bart weren’t sure what to expect – it would be Olive’s first time seeing anything in three years. The pair were nervously excited as they went to pick up Olive from her operation.

Holly managed to get the moment on video as Olive beholds them for the first time. In the video, you can see Olive coming around the corner of the vet’s office, wearing her surgery cone. The moment is so sweet as she sees her owners – the excitement she shows just brings tears to your eyes.

After a very loving greeting, the excited Olive then begins to show an interest in the rest of her surroundings – taking in all the sights that she’d never before been able to see. The trio then go on a well-deserved walk.

As Holly recalled the moment, she said, “It was such an incredible moment to witness, seeing her that alert and looking us in the eyes.”
