Last week, astronaut Christina Koch made a huge contribution to female history by spending 328 days in space – the longest space flight by a female to date.
After nearly a whole year, Koch finally returned to Earth on the 6th of February. Her historic time in space also overlapped the first all-female spacewalk, which included her fellow NASA astronaut, Jessica Meir.
While Koch is propelling female history forward, there is someone here on Earth who doesn’t care about all the historic significance, they’re just happy to have Koch home: and that would be her dog.
Koch’s loyal canine companion was captured in a heartwarming homecoming video, which Koch posted to Twitter. In the footage, her dog is antsy with anticipation, unable to contain her excitement seeing Koch coming up the porch steps.
When her husband finally opened the door, it didn’t take long for Koch’s dog to launch herself into her arms. There is nothing sweeter than watching a dog reunite with their owner after so much time apart.
As the now-famous astronaut posted to Twitter, “Not sure who was more excited. Glad she remembers me after a year!”
So happy that these two get to do plenty of catching up for lost time. You can watch their adorable reunion video below:
